Koolewong ~ my newest koala

It's funny, but I always underestimate the time I think I'll spend when I start these koalas. I do plan on another one (a bigger one) sometime during 2011, but I'm going to give myself a break from creating those tiny fingers for a while.

So this is Koolewong, my last creation of 2010 and also my last koala for a little while. I hope you can visit his auction to see all his details and more photos.. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170584690632

My latest koala

Thank you for letting me introduce my latest koala baby! He is made with recycled sheared beaver fur with recycled mink accents. He doesn't have open/close eyes/mouth, or claws, but he still has lots of detail. I hope you enjoy seeing him!

While I was taking these photos, one of our cats decided to pose for me... well, really she took over my set and I took advantage of it!

I hope everyone has safe and enjoyable visits with their family and friends over the winter break!

Busily working....

It's a gorgeous white day here today... the snow is coming down steadily and everything is covered in it.  I wish I could stay home all day and create, but I do have to go to physio and take my children to swimming lessons.  That's the worst part of winter for me... driving in it.

I am busily working on my newest creations.  One is a commissioned koala, and the other I hope to have ready for ebay next Sunday.  The commissioned koala is made from recycled sheared beaver fur - the first koala I've done in this fur.  I don't think there is anything softer than sheared beaver!

I hope everyone has a great day!

Melisa

Our mountain in the winter....

This is a photo of our mountain, Roche de Boule, taken during the winter (from the road in front of our house).  My husband took this photo.

Around the same time and place, he also took this photo....

I hope you enjoy these!

~ Robyn ~ a blue teddy bear

There's just something about a blue bear that appeals to me.  I created Robyn from blue synthetic fur.  I wanted to give the look of a realistic bear, only in blue... so I've given her loads of detail including open/close eyes and epoxy clay claws.  She is available on ebay at... http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170575932823

I'd love to hear what you think of her :o)

Giant Panda story on BBC Earth News

If you haven't already seen this news story, it is worth a read... I learned some interesting facts about Giant Pandas there.

5" Black Bear Cub!

It's been a busy couple of weeks!  Yesterday I finished my newest creation... a miniature baby black bear named Saud by his new mom :o)  He will be traveling to Qatar!  I hope you enjoy seeing him!

Even though these little bears take a huge amount of time and energy, they are so enjoyable to create... I love seeing their personalities come out as they take shape.  I also enjoy hearing what you think of them so please comment if you have a chance :o)

Winter

It warmed up a little and now the snow has mostly vanished.  It'll be back soon though.

I wish I was more of a winter person... the kind that enjoys skiing or hiking through the woods in snowshoes.  But I'm more a sit by the fire with hot cocoa and a good book type.  The nice thing about winter is it gives me plenty of time to create.

I'm just finishing up my little Pomeranian puppy and am also working on something to go with her... I'm looking forward to sharing her with everyone!

First Snow!

It snowed this morning!  As much as I don't look forward to bringing in firewood, dealing with mounds of wet, snowy kids clothes, and the early darkness... I do love the beauty of the first real snow.

~ Tetley ~ available on ebay!

Hi everyone!  I've decided to list Tetley on ebay today.  I hope you will visit his auction to see more photos of him.  http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170563451138

I finally figured out how to use a frame in my auction - yay!  I hope this makes it easier for everyone to see my auctions :o)

What am I working on now?

Some were wondering what I'm creating right now, so I thought I'd let everyone know that I'm working on a miniature Pomeranian created from recycled mink fur.  Ever since we adopted our Mini Blue Pomeranian this summer, I've been wanting to create one.  Our little girl is named Penny and is such a sweetheart!  This is Penny when we first got her...

This is her now....

What I was wondering is... what is your favorite name for a Blue (Black) Pomeranian?  I may use the most popular name to name the puppy I'm creating.

Melisa

~ Bao Shen ~ a commissioned baby panda

He's done!  I'm so excited to share photos of Bao Shen!  He took me longer than I expected, but I think the time I took paid off.  I hope you do too!

"Bao Shen"  means Baby Smile.  There are more photos of him on his web page at http://melisas-bears.com/Bao_Shen.html .

~ New Commissioned Panda - almost done!~

It's been a crazy couple of weeks around here.  End of school term and with home schooling it's a busy time.  I've been concentrating on finishing up a new tiny and realistic baby panda.  Those details take soooo much time but I'm very excited about how this little one is turning out.  I'll be posting photos soon... hopefully later today :o)

~ Plum Duff ~ a whimsical bear with a needle felted face :o)

Hi everyone!

Please let me introduce Plum Duff!  After the intense work of creating Amaroo, I needed to do something completely different.  My 7 year old daughter was trying out needle felting for the first time, so I decided to do another bear with a needle felted face.  It's been quite a few months since I created one, so I figured it was about time.  I hope you enjoy seeing him!

Please choose total with shipping method

~ Amaroo ~ A sweet little koala bear

Here is my newest creation... a baby koala named Amaroo.  I hope you love him as much as I do.  He was created using a vintage muskrat fur coat that I recycled.  He has open/close eyes and many more details.  Please see his web page at www.melisas-bears.com/Amaroo.html for more details and photos.  I've included a paypal button on his page for convenience, but if you are interested in layaway, please let me know.

Amaroo is such a cuddly handful.  He was difficult to create, especially as those tiny fingers and toes are each individually wired - I can't believe how long they took me!

Thanks for taking a peek at him here :o)
Hugs,
Melisa

Amaroo has been adopted
